What Day Is It? Saturday Reflections From the In-Between
A reflection for those who feel the space between the holidays and the new year.
As this Saturday Reflection lands in your inbox, we are stepping into those days between Christmas and the new year.
The in-between.
The quiet space where the pace slows and our minds begin to drift toward what is next, even as our hearts are still catching up to what has been.
These days have always felt suspended to me.
Not quite here.
Not quite there.
A pause I did not plan but often need.
And like many of you, I already have my eye on 2026.
There is momentum in front of me that I am deeply grateful for.
Opportunities I want to nurture.
Ideas I want to honor.
Work I feel called to build.
But even with that forward motion, I am still very much in the in-between.
The space where leadership meets our lived experience.
Where the weight of the year settles in once the urgency lifts.
Where the grief that stayed quiet through the holidays finally has room to be felt.
If that is you today, it does not diminish your strength.
It reveals your truth.
Leadership does not require us to outrun our emotions or hold everything together without pause.
What I am learning is this:
We get to hold both.
The vision for what is ahead
and the honesty of where we are right now.
The momentum
and the moment.
And here is an important reminder as we close out this year:
You can rest in the in-between
or
you can reset and accelerate if the wind has returned to your sails.
Both are valid.
Both are leadership.
Both honor the season you are in.
So this weekend, release the pressure to decide.
Let yourself be guided by what your body and spirit need most.
Your steadiness is not measured by constant motion.
It is measured by your ability to listen inward and honor what you find.
Wishing you clarity and calm in the in-between.

P.S. Stay tuned to your inboxes. Next week, I will offer something supportive for leaders who want to begin January with intention rather than urgency.
